COURSE DESCRIPTION: Certificate II in Animal Studies – Blended Delivery is designed for those learners who wish to have more flexibility in their course delivery. It is streamed toward a Companion Animals career path and offers 3 specific companion animal electives. However this is a general qualification for entry into sectors of the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, kennels, catteries, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. At this level, work takes place under direct supervision within clearly defined guidelines for work activities. Attendance consists of 2 evenings per week in an online connected classroom, Monday and Tuesday 6:30 – 8:30pm as well as 5 Thursdays at the college for practical assessments 29 /7, 26/8, 23/9, 28/10 and 25/11 . You will also be required to complete 120hrs (1 day per week) work placement in an animal industry workplace concurrently over the 18 weeks For further information contact animalsciencermd@tafensw.edu.au

COURSE OUTCOME: This course is designed to provide learners with the education and training in the entry level skills and knowledge required in the care and husbandry of animals within industry. It provides learners with the foundation skills to meet requirements to apply for higher qualifications at TAFE NSW Richmond.
