TAFE Certificate II in Animal Studies (Blended Delivery)

This course is now available in an online/workshop version. This is suited to people who may already be in the workplace and want to formalise their learning and attain a qualification, or for people who cannot attend face to face classrooms but would still like guidance by a teacher.
Attendance consists of 2 evenings per week (Semester 2, 2021) in an online connected classroom, Monday & Tuesday 6.30pm - 8.30pm as well as 5 x Thursdays at the college for practical assessments 29/7, 26/8, 23/9, 28/10, and 25/11. If students are residing too far away from Richmond and can replicate the practical assessments in their workplace they can send in video as evidence.
Working with animals is a highly rewarding but extremely demanding profession, this course ensures learners are prepared to work in industry and that they have strong core foundation skills ready to continue studies in higher animal science qualifications.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Certificate II in Animal Studies – Blended Delivery is designed for those learners who wish to have more flexibility in their course delivery. It is streamed toward a Companion Animals career path and offers 3 specific companion animal electives. However this is a general qualification for entry into sectors of the animal care and management industry, where workers provide care for animals in workplaces such as animal shelters, kennels, catteries, sanctuaries and veterinary clinics. At this level, work takes place under direct supervision within clearly defined guidelines for work activities. Attendance consists of 2 evenings per week in an online connected classroom, Monday and Tuesday 6:30 – 8:30pm as well as 5 Thursdays at the college for practical assessments 29 /7, 26/8, 23/9, 28/10 and 25/11 . COURSE OUTCOME: This course is designed to provide learners with the education and training in the entry level skills and knowledge required in the care and husbandry of animals within industry. It provides learners with the foundation skills to meet requirements to apply for higher qualifications at TAFE NSW Richmond.
