This is a summary of restrictions that apply to pet grooming salons and mobile services under the Public Health (COVID-19 Additional Restrictions for Delta Outbreak) Order 2021
For the safety of pet grooming service providers and the safety of their clients, NSW Health encourages the rescheduling of any grooming services that can be delayed or are not required for animal welfare purposes.
Restrictions on persons providing pet grooming services
Pet grooming salons may remain open and mobile services may continue to operate and visit places of residence in NSW and in the Local Government Areas (LGA) of concern, in accordance with the following requirements.
Persons living or staying in the LGAs of concern may only leave their residence to work outside of their LGA if they are an authorised worker.
o the list of authorised workers is published on the NSW Government website. It includes workers for animal welfare, care and accommodation services, excluding pet grooming unless there is an immediate animal welfare reason.
o persons living in the LGAs of concern may only leave their LGA to provide pet grooming services if there is an immediate animal welfare reason.
From 28 August 2021, authorised workers who reside in an LGA of concern and who leave that LGA for purposes of work must obtain a permit from Service NSW, and must carry the permit and show to a police officer if requested.
From 6 September 2021, authorised workers who reside in an LGA of concern and who leave that LGA for purposes of work must have;
o one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, or
o a medical contraindication certificate (indicating a medical reason they cannot be vaccinated).
From 6 September 2021, these workers must carry evidence of their vaccination or a medical contraindication certificate.

From 28 August 2021, persons who enter an LGA of concern for purposes of work must obtain a permit from Service NSW. There are no vaccination or testing requirements. These workers must carry their permit from 28 August 2021.
Restrictions currently apply to persons using pet grooming services
· Mobile pet services may visit homes in NSW, including LGAs of concern.
· Persons living or staying in NSW (excluding LGAs of concern) may only leave their place of residence to obtain pet grooming services;
within their local government area (LGA) or within 5 km of their place of residence, but not within a LGA of concern, or
if the services are not reasonably available within those limits, elsewhere in NSW.
· Persons living or staying in an LGA of concern may only leave their place of residence to obtain pet grooming services;
within 5km of their place of residence, or if they are not reasonably available within 5km of their residence, within their LGA, or
if they are not reasonably available within their LGA, from the closest place that they are reasonably available within Greater Sydney.
If there is an urgent animal welfare reason for the services, and you are unable to access a grooming salon or mobile service, please take the pet to the nearest available vet.

Dog walking and dog training services are not subject to closure. For the LGA’s of concern they are authorised workers (i.e. workers for animal welfare, care and accommodation services).
Given the current situation NSW Health strongly recommends that for the safety of pet service providers and the safety of their clients, any services that are not required for animal welfare purposes should be deferred or rescheduled.
