Hop into the fascinating world of Frogs in the world’s first Frog Masterclass…
Are you a new or old frog keeper or do you just adore frogs? Either way you’ll love the latest edition from petopia® – the Frog Masterclass. From the harsh arid regions of Central Australia to the beautiful rainforests of Queensland, this documentary-style adventure, takes viewers on an exciting journey into the interesting and often mysterious world of frogs.
The petopia® Frog Masterclass delivers the most accurate and up-to-date information on the care and conservation of frogs and joins a unique catalogue of online Masterclasses including Bearded Dragon, Python and Turtle.
According to Ben Dessen, Masterclass presenter and conservationist the frog Masterclass was a natural progression, as just like reptiles, frogs are increasingly becoming a popular pet in Australia.
“ There has been a massive surge in interest surrounding frogs as pets in recent years. They make the most fascinating and unique pets. They have endearing personalities and their natural behaviours are so interesting to observe. Compared to more traditional pets they are also relatively low maintenance so are a great alternative for people with busy lifestyles or small backyards.”
The Frog Masterclass takes a very documentary and hands on style approach to filming and really gets up close and personal with nature.
“The Frog Masterclass is a balance between what you would expect to see in the wild, what you normally couldn’t see in the wild and then, how to re-create those environments within your own home.” Explains Dominic Dimech, Masterclass Director and Editor.
“Filming the Frog Masterclass was a little different to our previous masterclasses in that we really incorporated more frogs in their natural habitat. This meant a lot of filming in the rain, the mud and around creeks often in the latest hours of the night or very early mornings.” Continues Mr Dimech.
Prior to the launch of Frog Masterclass, there was nothing available for frog keepers to help take them through the exciting and important journey of caring for a frog.
The two-hour Frog Masterclass aims to be the most comprehensive, up-to-date educational resource available and focusses on frog’s natural history, anatomy, habitat, general husbandry, diet, and conservation.
“It is so important that new frog keepers thoroughly research before deciding to bring frogs into their life. Often when researching the care of a new pet there can be conflicting information given or outdated techniques recommended.
The Frog Masterclass provides clear and easy to understand information in a highly engaging and cinematic format. Watching our Frog Masterclass will help ensure a long, happy and healthy life for any new froggy family members and the ability to care for them with confidence.” Says Mr Dessen.
The Frog Masterclass not only teaches new and old frog keepers how to look after their much-loved pet, but also educates people about the issues these animals face and what we can all do to help protect and conserve them.
“With the devastating Chytrid Fungus wiping out frog populations globally for many years and the recent unexpected dying of frogs over the past few months in Australia, there has never been a more important time for people to learn about these amazing and critically important creatures than now.” Explains Mr Dessen.
“The Frog Masterclass teaches people not just about the frogs themselves, but the issues that they currently face and what is being done to protect them.
We hope that every new frog keeper will become a ‘frog ambassador’ and go on to educate their friends and family about the issues these animals face and what we can all do to help protect and conserve them.” Continues Mr Dessen.
