Vets say the industry ‘is in crisis’…

It has the image of a job for animal lovers, but vets are revealing the harsh reality of the industry includes being underpaid and overworked.

Female vets fear for their safety when they’re required to be on call overnight to rural properties, and many vets are leaving regional centres to work in bigger clinics.

The Australian Veterinary Association says 800 vets are urgently needed across the country.
