We, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Tasmania (RSPCA Tasmania) as it’s now known, work hard to support the State Government, Local government and other groups and organisations that are concerned about the welfare of animals across Tasmania.
We take in animals in most need. and provide them with shelter, food and, if needed, veterinary care. We also work with the carers or owners of these animals, educating them about the best way to care for their animals.

Sustainable Fisheries call for public comment on Queensland Coral Fishery…
The current export approval for the Queensland Coral Fishery is valid until 18 June 2021 and the fishery is now due for assessment for ongoing export accreditation. The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment received an application from the Australian Fisheries Management Authority on 18 March 2021. An updated application was received by the department on 8 April 2021.

Animals are a significant part of life for most Queenslanders and their welfare is held in high regard by the community. The review marks 20 years since the ACPA commenced and will ensure the ACPA keeps pace with community expectations and modern welfare practices.

Spike in pronged dog collar imports prompts warning from RSPCA…
The RSPCA has expressed its concern about a rise in the importation of pronged dog collars, with the Australian Border Force announcing today a seven-fold increase in the number of these cruel devices detected at the border.
